FELA : Financial Education & Literacy Advisers
FELA Research Study on Employee Financial Wellness

Financial Education & Literacy Advisers (FELA) worked in partnership with a leading, national employee benefits provider to assess the value of and interest in FELAs online financial wellness program (LifeCentsTM) as an employee benefit. The four month study was conducted with the participation of an Advisory Panel which represented more than 150 employee benefits brokers, corporate HR directors, and employees who actively used the LifeCentsTM program during the study.

The study captured data and feedback regarding the interest in, need for, and usage of LifeCentsTM.  As importantly, the research also provided insights into the willingness of each group to pay for financial wellness as an employee benefit.

The Research Study provided each participant with access to LifeCentsTM. Additionally, each of the participants [in each group] were surveyed prior to being given access to LifeCentsTM. Through this process, the participants were given personas that identified them as conservative, innovative, progressive, traditional, among other characterizations. The purpose of this approach was to ensure that the sample population was heterogeneous, as were the beliefs, perceptions, and attitudes captured in the study and findings. Note: the persona subcategories are not included in the summaries presented in the related document.

The findings in study are organized by responses from each group (Employers, Brokers, and Employees) based on their active participation in the program and usage of LifeCentsTM. The feedback from each group provides insight into their interest in providing Financial Wellness as an employee benefit or having access to it through their organizations benefit program.
