Case Study - KCTCS

Initiative Overview: The Kentucky Community & Technical College System was working with the U.S. Department of the Treasury to develop a pilot program for financial education on several of the KCTCS's campuses. KCTCS wanted to provide a two hour personal finance program designed especially for KCTCS students. The Treasury turned to FELA for technical assistance on this initiative.

Objectives: FELA was asked to develop a personal finance curriculum which followed core principles for personal financial and account management practices. The content needed to be relevant to the needs of the KCTCS student population, and it needed to be flexible enough to be implemented in the classroom as well as workforce readiness programs.

Outcomes: FELA developed a comprehensive curriculum that was implemented through the statewide network of KCTCS schools. In addition to the core curriculum, FELA provided pre and post assessments, instructional presentations, activities, and worksheets.
